Building Community Support in Public Schools

The Education Foundation for Dothan's Future, Inc., is an independent, nonprofit organization developed to provide Dothan City Schools with funding to help pay for special projects, events and programs that cannot be paid for within the allocated school's budget.

Since 1995, administered by a board of local volunteers, the Foundation is a partnership of businesses, industry, civic, education and community interests committed to:

• Strengthening student achievement and motivation

• Improving classroom instruction and teacher morale

• Building community support and confidence in public schools

While the Foundation's goal is to meet the educational needs of Dothan, it does not duplicate the work of education-related groups.  The Foundation works closely with the school board, parent-teacher associations and other school groups, but remains strictly independent.

Good public education benefits every sector of society.  By creating this partnership and additional opportunities for excellence in education, we are making an investment in Alabama's future.
